I’ve looked at it from afar, and almost managed to get their with Tim and Dan, but my first trip to the Old Military Road over the cairngorms didn’t disappoint!
The more obvious route, the A9 from Perth, is far more direct but is dubbed the Tesco Highway for its multitude of HGVs pounding the tarmac. But golly, the old road is obscenely attractive!
It may see temps dropping as low as -25 in the winter but come spring and summer it’s an astonishing piece of engineering, scything through, over, and around the landscape, and still saving a few 20% hills for your pleasure!
One to note and plan for!
