According to Jonathan Vaughters, who raced with Armstrong and knew him very well, Armstrong always planned to blame the UCI for his cancer.

When Vaughters testified before USADA, he echoed some of Armstrong’s feelings on the cause of his cancer.

“Early on at a Postal Service training camp I had a conversation with Lance in which he told me that the UCI should have detected a high level of HCG in his doping controls when he had cancer but had failed to do so,” said Vaughters.

He then added that Armstrong made this statement, “…if I ever have a doping problem, I have this card to play.”

Just ‘wow’! such a complex character, I am sure his shrink has some stories which he can never tell!
